114 road-cum-embankments to be upgraded at an expense of ₹958 cr in Assam including 3 districts of Barak
Feb. 2: In the weekly Assam Cabinet on 2 February, among several key decisions, issues like improving road infrastructure also surfaced. The Cabinet Meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. An amount of Rs. 958 crore was sanctioned to upgrade 114 road-cum-embankments and construction of 6 rural bridges in the state, which will include those in Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi also.
After the Cabinet Meeting, CM Dr Sarma tweeted, “Approval to sanction of Rs. 958 cr to upgrade 114 road-cum-embankments and construction of 6 rural bridges in Bajali, Baksa, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara- Mankachar & Tinsukia districts.”
Further, Rs. 1,031 crore was also approved by the Cabinet on 2 February to improve & upgrade road projects. These are:
- Kokrajhar to Rupsi Airport Road
- Gohpur- Dholpur road via Ghagrabasti road from Kokchabari to Hawajan
- Dirakgate to Penegree road from Dirakgate to Bijulibon
- Rowta to Misamari road (Rowta to Kanakata section)
- Rowta to Misamari road (Kanakata to Phulogori section)
