Nation remembers former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his Jayanti
Dec. 25: The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has paid tributes to the former Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his Jayanti. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said; “आदरणीय अटल जी को उनकी जयंती पर कोटि-कोटि नमन।Remembering Atal Ji on his Jayanti. We are inspired by his rich service to the nation. He devoted his life towards making India strong and developed. His development initiatives positively impacted millions of Indians.”
Leaders paid tribute to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 97th birth anniversary. President Ram Nath Kovind paid floral tribute at ‘Sadaiv Atal’ Samadhi in the national capital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to the former PM. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal and others also paid floral tribute at ‘Sadaiv Atal’ on the occasion. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter Remembering ‘Atal Ji on his Jayanti’. Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday is celebrated as ‘Good Governance Day’.

Taking to his twitter handle, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “A visionary statesman, a gifted poet and an orator par excellence, former PM Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji showed us the path of good governance and public service. I bow in reverence to Atal ji on his jayanti, also celebrated as Good Governance Day.”
Born on December 25, 1924, as the first-ever leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to have become the nation’s Prime Minister. He served as Prime Minister thrice — briefly in 1996, and then for two terms between 1998 and 2004. He was also known for his oratory skills. One of the prominent leaders of the country and founder members of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Vajpayee died on August 16, 2018, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a prolonged illness. He was 93.
