102 tests +ve in Cachar on Wednesday; tally rises to 7,492
Sept. 9: On Wednesday, 102 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, 1007 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which 81 were found positive; whereas another 21 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday night. It needs mention here that 96 persons were found positive in Cachar on Tuesday.
With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 7492 till now. A total of 5472 persons were discharged in the district till 8 September. As of now, there are 1996 active cases in Cachar. Further, the death toll has now gone upto 25.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday said that in the last 24 hours, 189 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 498 persons were collected. 1283 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 43 of them tested positive. Further, 161 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 11 were found positive.
Apart from this, 22 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 20 were discharged. At present, there are 198 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 4 in ventilation. 28 patients are now in critical condition. Another 58 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 94 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 179 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that no persons have died at SMCH in the last 24 hours. As of now, there were 119 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 121 deaths, 46 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
