Assam Univ to organise 10 days workshop on Research Methodology from 8 Jan

Dec. 17: The Centre for Studies in Human Development (CSHD), Assam University is going to organize a ten-day workshop on “Research Methodology and use of Quantitative techniques in Social sciences and Humanities” sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), NERC, Shillong during January 8-17, 2021. The objective of the workshop is to build/ enhance the research capacities of the scholars, covering the various aspects of research methodology in the disciplines of Social Sciences. M Phil/Ph D research scholars/ faculty members and students from any Indian University/college/institutes in any branch of Social Sciences, languages and Humanities are eligible to apply on the prescribed application form through Google online form.

This course predominantly follows the Research Methodology Syllabus which includes extensive understanding of both qualitative and quantitative methods. The Course would train the participants in the following areas: 1. Nature of Scientific Method and its Application to Social Phenomena & Nature, Importance and Scope of Research 2. Types of Research: Historical, Analytical, Interdisciplinary, Evaluative, Participative and Action Research 3. Steps in the Process of Research- Problem Selection, Formulation and Planning: How to write a Proposal 4. Types of Research Design 5. Concepts in Quantitative Research: Variables, Attributes 6. Hypothesis: Concept & Types of Hypothesis, Formulation of Hypothesis, Testing of Hypothesis 7. Nature & Types of Sampling: Probability Sampling: and Non-Probability Sampling: 8. Tools of Data Collection 9. Descriptive Statistics and other statistical tools 10. Report Writing-References in Report Writing (Style Sheet) How to write an academic Research Paper.

The Workshop will be conducted through online Google Meet Platform. Classes will be preferably held during the evening time — 5 pm onwards. Interested candidates can apply to the organizing committee through online Google form link on or before 31 December, 2020. Registration Fee for All categories : Rs. 500. The requisite Registration fee can be paid through Bank Transfer/ RTGS/NEFT in favour of Assam University. The payment is to be made in favour of Assam University Revenue Account, Account No. 20050100000007, IFSc code- UCBA0002005, MICR Code : 788028005. All the registered candidates were asked to upload the scanned copy of the transaction slip along with the registration form. Certificate will be provided to all the registered participants who remain present during all the academic session of the Workshop.
