With 18 more COVID-19 +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 89 on Tuesday

Sept. 21: Another 18 new cases of COVID-19 positive were detected on Tuesday night as per the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test results. With this, the day’s total has now gone upto 89 in Cachar district. During the day, a total of 1018 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which 62 persons were found positive , whereas 27 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. Further, one person from Cachar district died during the day. The deceased was identified as Mallika Deb Choudhury (66).

With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,363 as of now. It needs mention here that 77 persons were found positive in Cachar on Monday.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results on Tuesday, 09 persons were found COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. Out of them 5 patients admitted at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC). They are 52 years old female from Anandamayee Apartment, Dinabandhu Lane, Kanakpur; 48-year-old male Andarighat, Silkuri; 50-year-old male from Fulertol, 62-year-old male from Anandamayee Apartment, Dinabandhu Lane, Kanakpur and 28-year-old male from Athalbasti, Ghungoor. Another person from Karimganj presently admitted at CCHRC was also found positive.

A 26 years old pregnant woman in near labour from Dudhpur Part III presently admitted at SMCH was also tested positive during the day. Another 58 years old male from Jalalpur with SARI symptoms was also detected positive during the day. A 35-year-old male from 1st Link Road also tested positive. The last in the slot is a 25-year-old female from Sonai who is pre-operative stage tested COVID-19 positive.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results on Tuesday, none from Cachar tested positive. But in the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test results, 18 persons were found COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. Out of them 11 persons are with travel history. They are 25-year-old male from Dholai (air passenger from Bangalore), 47-year-old Masimpur CSD Campus (air passenger from Jharkhand); 28-year-old male from Rongpur, Part IV (air passenger from Kolkata); 35-year-old male from Karatigram Rongpur (air passenger from Kolkata); 35 years old male from Masimpur Army Camp (air passenger from Punjab); 28 years old male from Masimpur Army Camp (air passenger from Jammu & Kashmir); 31-year-old male from Srikona (air passenger from Haryana), 45 years old male from Lailapur (air passenger from Imphal), 50 years old male from Dayapur (air passenger from Delhi), 30-year-old female from Srikona (air passenger from (air passenger from Guwahati) and 29 years old male from Srikona (air passenger from Maharashtra).

Apart from them, 06 passengers in this slot who were tested positive came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed cases. These 6 persons were identified as 42-year-old male from CRPF Dayapur, 24-year-old male from Masimpur Military Station, 79-year-old female from Masimpur Military Station, 15-year-old youth from Silchar, 40-year-old female from National Highway and 69-year-old female also from National Highway. The last one in this slot is a 27-year-old female from Rengti PHC.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday said that in the last 24 hours, 224 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 557 persons were collected. 561 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 21 of them tested positive. Further, 155 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 16 were found positive.

Apart from this, 18 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 11 were discharged. At present, there are 128 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 21 patients are now in critical condition. Another 30 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 152 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 272 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no person have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 139 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 139 deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
