DC Cachar inspects poll party training venue at Cachar School

April 2: Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar came to inspect the training venue at Cachar High School, wherein training of Presiding officers and 1st polling officers were going on. The Deputy Commissioner went around all the training halls at Cachar School and also listened to the deliberation of the Assembly Level Master Trainers.

As per an order issued by Rajib Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner & in-charge of Training & Awareness Cell, Parliamentary Election, 2019,the 2ns round of training of Presiding Officers and other First Polling officers began from 3 April and will continue till 5 April, 2019. Cachar district will go for polls on 18 April, 2019. The result of the election will be declared on 23 May, 2019.

A total of 27 Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs) were drafted for the purpose of imparting training to the poll party. The training will be imparted in two sessions. The morning session training is scheduled at 10 AM till1 PM, whereas the afternoon session will start at 2 PM and end at 5 PM. On Tuesday, a total of 865 Presiding and First Polling Officers were trained.

The EVM/VVPAT Training & Awareness Cell of Cachar district spearheaded the training sessions wherein 27 Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs) imparted training in EVM/VVPAT and poll procedure. The training was given by means of power point presentations. A total of 10 rooms were earmarked at Cachar School for the purpose of training. In every room, there will be two sets of Master Trainers: one will give training on EVM/VVPAT and the other will impart training on the poll procedure.

It needs mention here that the 1st round of training of poll parties (Presiding Officers & other polling staff) which started on 18 March came to an end on 23 March. A total of around 7000 poll staff were imparted training during the 1st round at Narshing HS School and Cachar High School. The EVM training has acquired a great significance this year due to the introduction of a new machine named, Voter Verified Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT). The VVPAT is a way of giving feedback to voters using ballot-free voting system. Its purpose is to confirm the authenticity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). This arrangement reveals to the voter whether he has voted or not. VVPAT is a kind of printer connected to EVM.

ADC Rajib Roy was present in the venue on Tuesday and he personally monitored the training session. State Level Master Trainer Sudipta Dutta Choudhury (Bapi) and Mridul Kanti Chakraborty, Head Assistant of the Training & Awareness Cell provided the logistic support. The training will continue till 5 April as of now.
