2 labourers from Bihar die at Kalain brick kiln collapse; CM Nitish Kumar announces ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each

way2barak, Dec.3: In a tragic accident, 5 persons including two minors were killed in a brick kiln chimney (It Bhatta) collapse at Kalain in Cachar district. The incident happened on Friday evening at Lakhipur Pt II of Kalain constituency in a brick kiln named, S.A.B.I. Atleast 8 more persons seriously injured in the accident were admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

Out of the 5 deceased, two of them were inhabitants from Bihar. They were identified as Sunil Paswan and Medini Paswan. They hailed from Khagaria in Bihar. On getting this information, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep condolence and also declared an ex-gratia grant of Rs. 2 each from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He also directed officials for taking necessary action to bring back the mortal remains of the deceased to their village.

Taking to his twitter handle on Saturday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wrote, “Saddened by the death of 2 laborers from Bachhauta village of Khagaria, Bihar in a chimney blast in Cachar, Assam. Dependents of the deceased of Bihar will be given ex-gratia grant of Rs. 2- 2 lakh from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.” He further stated, “The Resident Commissioner, New Delhi has been directed to establish necessary coordination with the Government of Assam and ensure proper arrangement for taking the mortal remains of the deceased to their village.”
