Complaint filed against MP Bijoya Chakrabarty at Jalukbari Police Station

December 21: All Asom Goriya Yuva Chatra Parishad (AAGYCP) lodged an FIR against BJP MP Bijoya Chakrabarty of Guwahati. In the FIR lodged at the Jalukbari Police Station, Mrs. Chakrabarty was alleged of making “controversial statements” on the updation exercise of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Speaking to newsmen, the AAGYCP stated that MP Bijoya Chakrabarty has said that in 17 districts of Assam, 95 percent of the Muslims have enrolled their names in the NRC by using forged documents. They vehemently criticised this statement of the MP as ‘objectionable’ and demanded that she should divulge the source of information on which she based her statement.
