ASSAM RIFLES FOILS DRUGS SMUGGLING AND APPREHENDED ONE PLA CADRE IN JIRIBAM

way2barak, January 26: Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles(East) foiled smuggling of heroine powder carried by an active PLA cadre.

Based on specific input about movement of UG cadre carrying drugs in area of Jiribam, Assam Rifles launched a operation which resulted into seizure of 28.40gms of Heroin powder worth approximately Rs 3 lakhs. Two individuals were arrested amongst which one individual is a active cadre of PLA UG group. Apprehended individuals alongwith seized drugs were then handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

According to Assam Rifles PRO, “In the war against drugs this operation of Assam Rifles will not only curb the illegal activities of Narco terrorism but also it is another milestone in the journey of putting complete end to drug money fuelling insurgency in the area.”
