Outrage pours in after 80-year-old woman from Nagaland allegedly strip searched by CISF at Guwahati Airport!

March 24: In what seems to be a very unusual and insulting move, a 80-year-old woman from Nagaland was allegedly made to open every piece of clothes she was wearing in the name of search by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staff at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Guwahati in Assam on Thursday.

The octogenarian women identified as Mhalo Kikon who was wheel-chair bound underwent a hip replacement surgery last year and was on her way to Delhi by a GoAir flight along with her grandchild. Taking to Twitter, Kikon’s daughter Dolly Kikon, a renowned anthropologist and an author from Nagaland wrote, “My 80 year old disabled mom was made to strip at the CISF security check at Guwahati airport. The security personnel wanted “proof” of her titanium hip implant and forced her to undress.” She also tagged Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in her tweet.

In another tweet, Dolly Kikon wrote, “It is disgusting! My 80 year old disabled mother mother was forced to pull down her undergarment and get naked. Why? Why?” Dolly Kikon also alleged that the CISF security personnel harassed her niece for lodging a complaint with the authorities against the incident. She wrote, “Someone please help! The CISF security personnel team at @GuwahatiAirport are harassing my neice who is taking care of my mother. They have taken away the complaint form she has written.They DID not allow her to take a screenshot saying it’snot “allowed”. My mom is distressed.”

Sources revealed that soon after this incident came to light following the tweets of the victim’s daughter, the Guwahati airport authorities issued an apology to Dolly Kikon. Expressing dissatisfaction at this incident, a twitterati wrote, “Very unprofessional behaviour by responsible personnel, I am sure CISF will definitely take stringent action and corrective measures for future, not repeat such behaviour anywhere in Indian airport.”
