149 tests Covid +ve in Hailakandi on Wednesday, 23 discharged, 2 deaths registered

The district has altogether 859 active COVID-19 cases.

May 26: Hailakandi registered 149 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Of the 149 positive cases detected on Wednesday, 129 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 20 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 859 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,433 RAT tests and 1,276 RT-PCR tests were done. 23 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that 112 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 5,606.

As of now, in the 51,705 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 16,070 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 10 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 10 deceased, 07 are from Cachar district, 01 from Karimganj & 02 from Hailakandi. The deceased from Hailakandi were identified as:

  • Abdul Rouf Choudhury (67) from Algapur in Hailakandi took admission at SMCH on 25 May. He breathed his last at 1.10 AM on 26 May.
  • Ayesha Begum Laskar (60) from Dakhhin Mohanpur in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 25 May. She died at 3.15 AM on 26 May.
