DC issues stern warning against unauthorized constructions on proposed Badarpur bypass

way2barak, Sept 23 —The District Administration, Cachar, has issued a strict directive prohibiting any unauthorized construction or development on land earmarked for the proposed 4-Lane Badarpur Bypass (Silchar–Badarpur–Churaibari ) Package-3.

In an order released by the Land Acquisition Branch of the Office of the District Commissioner, Cachar, it was observed that some individuals had started constructing temporary structures and nurseries in the villages of Karaikandi Pt. II and Telitikar Pt. III. The administration has categorically stated that such activities are illegal and will not be entertained under any circumstances.

The order states “The general public is hereby informed that any new construction or development activity within the designated areas of the proposed 4-Lane Badarpur Bypass must obtain prior permission from the Office of the District Commissioner. Unauthorized structures, whether temporary or permanent, will not be eligible for compensation during land acquisition or project implementation”.

Notably, the directive, which comes into immediate effect, is aimed at preventing fraudulent claims for compensation and ensuring smooth execution of the highway project under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

District Commissioner Mridul Yadav also emphasized that the administration is fully committed to facilitating critical infrastructure development in Cachar, but warned that strict action will be taken against any attempt to encroach or exploit government land acquisition processes.

This move is seen as part of the District Administration’s proactive approach to fast-track the much-awaited Silchar–Badarpur–Churaibari four-lane connectivity, which is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve trade movement, and boost the overall economic growth of Barak Valley.
