Containment zone declared in parts of 2nd Link Road

June 17: A COVID-19 positive case was reported from 2nd Link Road area in Silchar. This new COVID-19 positive patient, a 59 years old male is a resident of House No.26, Lane No 5, 2nd Link Road, Silchar in Cachar district. The man with a travel history was put under home quarantine. After his reports were positive, he was admitted in the COVID-19 Ward of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday.

In an order issued by District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli on 16 June, it was stated that, to contain the further spread of the virus, the area surrounding House No.26, Lane No 5, 2nd Link Road, Silchar in Cachar district was declared as a containment zone and it was immediately sealed. Further, the area inside the following geographical boundaries was also sealed:

• North: Abul Kalam Azad Road (2nd Link Road main road)
• South: 3rd Link Road, Main Road
• East: Lane No 6(A)
• West: Lane No.5

The following areas in Silchar Revenue Circle are also declared as “Buffer Zone”:

• North: 1st Link Road (across the 2nd Link Road main)
• South: 3rd Link Road, (Main)
• East: Lane No 6 & 7
• West: Lane No. 4 & 3

To implement the above instructions, following restrictions were also imposed in the geographical area mentioned above:

1. Clear entry and exit points are to be established.
2. No unauthorised entry and exit of the residents in the contained area will be allowed.
3. Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited.
4. No movement is to be allowed except for medical emergencies, essential goods and services.
5. No unchecked influx of population is to be allowed
6. People transiting are to be recorded and followed through IDSP.
7. Stricter enforcement of all statutory directions regarding social distancing.

District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli stated that the orders are issued under the Regulations “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” and shall be effective from 0700 hours of 16 June, 2020 until further orders.
