Assembly Election: 3rd phase training of polling personnel concludes in Cachar

March 25: The Cachar district administration and District Election officials organized 3 rounds of training of polling personnel for the seven constituencies (Silchar, Sonai, Dholai, Udharband, Lakhipur, Borkhola & Katigorah) in the district to ensure a smooth and hassle free voting process during the upcoming assembly elections. The training on EVM/ VVPAT, Covid protocol and poll process concluded on Thursday.

The training sessions were organised at three locations- Narshing Higher Secondary School, Silchar Govt Girl’s Higher Secondary School and Government Boys Higher Secondary School. Around 100 Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs) were drafted for the purpose of training the polling staff.

Further, the training of Micro Observers was also organized in Silchar to ensure smooth conduct of the forthcoming Assembly elections. The training took place at the DRDA conference hall. Training was imparted on EVM/ VVIPAT, electoral process and absentee voters. Around 150 central government officials were trained.

Apart from this, the Training & Awareness Cell also organised training on Absentee Voters through Postal ballots which was imparted to the Zonal Officers, AERO’s, Civil Sector Officers and Polling Personnel.

Meanwhile, Training & Awareness Cell of Cachar has also organised EVM/VVPAT Help Desk in connection with Assembly Election, 2021 for 5 days from 25 March to 29 March. The Help Desk will function from 10 AM to 5 PM. This Help Desk will be set up at the EVM/VVPAT Warehouse located at Park road, opposite Amrit Sweets, Silchar.

The logistic support for the training sessions were provided by Mridul Kanti Chakraborty, Head Assistant of District Training Cell. With a vast experience of working in the training cell, Mr Chakraborty along with his team organised the venue so that hands on training could be imparted to the trainees by the Mater Trainers. S.B. Dutta Choudhury (Bapi), Development Officer, LICI was entrusted the onus of Coordinator (Master Trainer) of the training sessions. Further, the training cell will also impart training to the transit officers, materials distribution and receiving personnel.

The Training & Awareness Cell formed in connection with the Assembly Election, 2021 conducted the training sessions which was spearheaded by Dipak Jidung, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum in-charge of the Cell.  Nabanita Hazarika, Election Officer, Silchar also provided the logistic support.
