Emerging aspects of cyberspace explained in lucid way by Subimal Bhattacharjee at Assam University

August 19: The most difficult challenge in cyber security is the ever-evolving nature of security risks themselves. Traditionally, organizations and the government have focused most of their cyber security resources on perimeter security to protect only their most crucial system components and defend against known treats. Today, this approach is insufficient, as the threats advance and change more quickly than organizations can keep up with. These were the words uttered by Subimal Bhattacharjee in his lecture delivered at Assam University, Silchar on Monday.

Renowned cyber security expert Subimal Bhattacharjee addressed a gathering of faculty members, administrators and students on “Cybercrime and Cyberlaw” in Assam University, Silchar. The 1 hour 20 minutes extempore lecture by Mr. Bhattacharjee mesmerised the intellectual gathering. At the outset, Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath and Dr. Sanjib Bhattacharjee, Register welcomed Subimal Bhattacharjee.

In his lecture, Subimal Bhattacharjee touched upon every aspect of the emerging cyberspace. He also spoke on cyber law and its emergence and how these laws cannot be changed regularly at the pace in which cyber technology is changing. He cited examples of how people were being duped by frauds using social engineering. He explained in a lucid manner how frauds are now-a-days involved in stealing money from bank accounts.

Mr. Bhattacharjee stressed that the need of the hour is to maintain cyber hygiene. He said, “Proper awareness is the key to remain safe from the hands of cyber frauds. The forms of cyber crime are changing almost every day and people ought to remain updated about the dos and dont’s of cyber behaviour.” His lecture was followed by a question-answer session wherein Mr. Bhattacharjee replied to diverse queries of the students and faculty members.
