4th Convocation of Diploma in Creative Writing in English held in GC College

way2barak, June 19: 4th Convocation of Diploma in Creative Writing in English was held in the Department of English, Gurucharran College on 15th June’24. The Head of the Department Dr. Panthopriyo Dhar said in his inaugural speech about the utility of pursuing this course.

The Convocation Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, former Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Prof. Tapodhir Bhattacharjee. Quoting Sylvano Arieti Prof. Bhattacharjee said in his convocation address that creativity is magic synthesis. It does not need to be mentioned that the address was very much inspiring. In the convocation, total eight nos of students were handed over Diploma Certificates In Creative Writing In English.
Because of prior engagement in the Department of Physics, the Principal of the college, Dr Bibhas Dev, could not attend this programme, however, the Vice Principal Dr. Gopa Sinha was present. Dr. Sinha in her speech said that she, too, wished to pursue this course.

On this occasion, the 11th edition of the Departmental Journal “Literaria” was also published.
Besides, the Department of English also felicitated Mridula Dey, the Gold Medalist, who is ranked First Class 1st in B.A. with Hons in English in the year 2023 from G. C. College.
The programme was anchored by Astt. Prof. Srestha Kar and Vote of Thanks was delivered by Astt. Prof. Rimpi Sanwal.
