A village in Karimganj earns appreciation for making provision for home quarantine & preparing rosters
May 24: With easing of lockdown norms, people stranded outside the state has now started to come back to their home. However, on entering Assam, all will have to be quarantined for a period of 14 days. Along with the district administration, the onus of containing coronavirus rests with the community also. As responsible citizens, people have to commit to contain the further spread of the deadly coronavirus.
It is in this context that Rongpur village in a remote corner of Karimganj district has taken the onus upon itself; whether in enforcing lockdown or ensuring home quarantine. They have made duty rosters and identified and built quarantine homes in all the hamlets falling under cherawgi GP in the district. Appreciating their positive step, DC Karimganj in his official Facebook Page lauded the efforts of the villagers and wrote, “A big salute to their dynamic GP president, #coronawarrior Sri Baburil Chorei. If every locality in Karimganj follows their model and imbibes the same commitment, Karimganj shall be corona free!”
