EOI/NIT published for running Cachar Paper Mill & industrial set up in vacant land of the Mill: Govt

way2barak, Dec.24: The Government of Assam has already purchased the land and infrastructure of Panchgram Paper Mill. This was informed on Saturday by Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Department during the ongoing winter session of Assam Legislative Assembly while responding to a question posed by MLA Siddeque Ahmed.

Siddeque Ahmed asked (Unstarred Question No. 232), “Will the Minister of Industries & Commerce Department be pleased to state:
a. Whether it is a fact that the Government of Assam purchased the land and infrastructure of Panchgram Paper Mill?
b. Whether the Government has any proposal to set up any project/ industry at Panchgram Paper Mill? If yes, kindly furnish the same.
c. If not, will the Government take up any project/ industry there? As there are sufficient infrastructures lying there.”

In response to the queries, Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Department replied that the Government of Assam has indeed purchased the land and infrastructure of Panchgram Paper Mill. He further stated, “Yes, Government of Assam has published EOI/ NIT through AIDC for running the Cachar Paper Mill at Panchgram and sale of Plant & Machinery of Nagaon Paper Mill as: “Lease of Plant & Machinery along with land, Township area with civil structure, vacant land of Cachar Paper Mill” and “Sale of Plant & Machinery of Nagaon Paper Mill without land” on “as is where is” basis.”

Further, the minister replied that in this connection, “Already EOI/NIT has been published for running the Cachar Paper Mill and industrial set up in the vacant land of the Mill.”
