BVVBDF celebrates National Youth Day by organising 2 blood donation camps

January 12: National Youth Day is celebrated on 12 January being the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In 1984 the Government of India declared this day as National Youth Day and since from 1985, the event is celebrated in India every year. Everywhere many programmes, mostly rally, lecture series and the like are held to mark the day.

However, true to the ideal preached by Swami Vivekananda, who said “If you want to find God, serve man.” the members of Barak Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors’ Forum (BVVBDF) also celebrated the birthday of this spectacular personality in a unique way.

The members of Cachar District Committee of Barak Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors’ Forum (BVVBDF) organised two blood donation camps to commemorate the birthday of the great Swami Vivekananda. The two camps were held at:

  • Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, Silchar
  • Daffodils School, Silchar

BVVBDF received good response in both these two camps. The technical support to the camps were provided by S.M. Dev Civil Hospital Blood Bank and Red Cross Society Blood Bank, Silchar.

Speaking to way2barak, Dr. Manoj Kumar Paul, one of the leading soldiers of the voluntary blood donation programme in the district said, “We the members of BVVBDF believe in action which would have a positive influence in the life of the human beings. What service to mankind could be much better than to organise voluntary blood donation camp on the birthday of Swami Vivekananda? We celebrated this day in our own humble way. I do believe that Service to humanity is the service to God. I would thank all those who voluntarily donated blood in these two camps today.”
