There is no situation of a lockdown yet in Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Jan. 15: Though the number of Covid-19 fresh cases are increasing by leaps and bounds, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterated that there is no situation of lockdown yet in the state. He, however, added that people must have to follow Covid appropriate behaviour. Masks should be put on by everybody. The Chief Minister emphasised the need of getting vaccinated to combat the deadly coronavirus.
CM Sarma said that the state from 15 January will strictly enforce “no vaccine no entry” policy. Those not fully vaccinated will not be allowed to enter public places like district courts, hotels, markets etc. Such type of unvaccinated persons can only enter hospitals. But entry to public places will be strictly prohibited for them. Only those who are fully vaccinated, that is, vaccinated with double dose shall be allowed entry everywhere.
It needs mention that, there are at present 15, 267 active Covid-19 cases in the state.
