Condolence meeting held, District Congress pays tribute to Sheila Dikshit

July 23: District Congress Committee (DCC), Silchar paid rich tributes to the Congress leader and 3-times Chief Minister of Delhim Sheila Dikshit who expired on 20 July, 2019. She was 81.

In this connection, a condolence meeting was held, thereafter under the Presidentship of Pradip Kumar Dey, President of District Congress. Speakers Sanjeev Roy-Secretary APCC, the General Sceretaries of DCC-Simanto Bhattacharjee, Sujan Dutta, Mridul Mazumder; Silchar Town Mohila Congress President Anjana Deb and others spoke on the charismatic qualities of Sheila Dikshit. All of them termed her as a ‘loyal Congress soldier.’ Also present in the condolence meeting were Papon Dev, Atanu Bhattacharjee, Rajesh Deb, Amitabha Sen, Mohanlal Das, Mehboob Ahmed Barbhuiya, Dipjoy Roy among others. A minute silence was also observed as a mark of tribute to the departed soul.

Sheila Dikshit suffered a major cardiac arrest at around 3.15 PM on 20 July, following which she was admitted at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. However, she breathed her last at 3.55 PM. She was the three-time Chief Minister of Delhi from 1998 to 2013.
