Supari killing: Cousin brother murdered lorry driver, 5 arrested

way2barak, February 12: On 08/01/2025 complainant Ram Bahadur Gupta R/o Guwahati lodged an FIR stating that the driver Bidhan Dutta R/o Kailicherra, Hailakndi had been missing along with vehicle registration number AS01SC1590 Ashok Leyland, a white colour truck on 03 January 2025 while transporting goods from Guwahati to Churachandpur, Manipur by the same vehicle loaded oil, soya bean and fish pot, etc.The vehicle was last seen in Silchar. despite efforts made by the family members and the informant’s whereabouts remains untraced thus prompting the case.

In pursuance of investigation of Silchar PS Case No. 28/25 u/s 303(2) /316(3) /317/ 318(4) /61(2) BNS, Added Sec 103/238 BNS, an SIT was constituted headed by Addl.SP(Crime), Cachar and O/C Silchar PS/TSI Silchar PS and other staff of Silchar PS with constant efforts, Baktiar Hussain Laskar (Age 32 Yrs) of Mohankhal, Kachudram, Sanjib Ahmed Laskar (Age 42 Yrs), Kachudaram, Dilwar Hussain Laskar (Age 29 Yrs.) were picked up who were learned to have received the stolen truck and which was kept concealed at Assam Mizoram Border. Based on their revelation another two persons namely Saharul Islam Laskar (age 27 Yrs) of Lala, Hailakandi & Amol Paul (Age 35 Yrs) of Katlicherra, Hailakandi were apprehended who during interrogation admitted to have killed Bidhan Dutta at Lumshlnong, Meghalaya while on way from Guwahati on the same truck followed by dumping the body of the deceased near one Toll Gate. During thorough interrogation it is learned that Amol Paul (paternal cousin brother of deceased) in connivance with Saharul Islam Laskar deliberately killed Bidhan Dutta out of old grudge relating to monetary transaction. The goods were sold out to one Aseb Hussain Barbhuiya (25 Yrs) of Srikona in lieau Rs 5,80,000/- accordingly Aseb Hussain Barbhuiya (25 Yrs), Srikona & Tafijul Hussain Barbhuiya @ Ramij (31 Yrs), Kalain were arrested who finally dealt with the stolen goods.

Further, on 11/02/2025 the stolen vehicle bearing Reg. No. As-01-SC-1590 Ashok Leyland white color truck was recovered from the Karkot Basti near Assam- Mizoram Border.Further lawful actions have been initiated.
