BJP postpones declaration of list of candidates due to demise of Goa CM
March 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party was supposed to declare the names of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, 2019 on Monday. However, following the demise of Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar the party has decided to postpone the declaration. BJP has also cancelled all official programmes of the party for the day.
Party sources further revealed that the the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting scheduled on Monday was postponed. As such, as a result of postponement of the party’s election committee meeting, the list of candidates will now be declared only after the said election meeting is conducted. That means the suspense still remains as regards the name of contesting candidate of BJP even from Silchar constituency.
Meanwhile, the name of Dr. Rajdip Roy went around in the social media as the probable candidate of BJP from Silchar Lok Sabha constituency. However, securing party ticket is just like the game of cricket where the fate of the match cannot be decided until the last bowl is bowled. Similarly, until the Party officially releases the list, it cannot be said with certainty as to who will have the last smile.
