Assam Rifles disposes two World War II era bombs found in Manipur

February 22: Two World War-II era bombs which were found in Tengnoupal district of Manipur were disposed off by the Assam Rifles on Friday. The two bombs were recovered during excavation work carried out to expand the National Highway-102 in Tengnoupal Police Station premises and Loisi village.

It needs mention here that in in 2018, eighty-seven bomb-shells, believed to be of World War II period, have been found at the border town of Moreh during excavation work for construction of a power sub-station. The recovered explosives were taken to Moreh police station for defusal.
