Youth must be made aware of the importance of Yoga education: Kamalakhya

way2barak, May 6 : The Institute for Yoga Education Research and Holistic Sciences (IYERHS), in collaboration with the Katirail Yoga Byayam Centre Foundation (KYBC Foundation), has launched the “Yoga Samparka Abhiyan” ahead of the 12th International Day of Yoga. As part of the campaign, representatives of both organizations recently met MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha to discuss strategies for promoting and expanding Yoga education.

During the meeting, the discussion focused on how authentic Yoga education can be effectively taken to the general public. MLA Kamalakhya emphasized that in today’s time, Yoga is not only a medium for maintaining physical and mental health but also offers substantial career opportunities. He stated that these aspects must be brought before the youth, and awareness must be created among them.

Kamalakhya pointed out that most people remain unaware that Yoga education can be a pathway to building one’s career. He added that regular Yoga practice has become essential in the present era of hectic lifestyles, where people are constantly chasing goals and parents place high expectations on their children, leading to increased stress. In such circumstances, he observed, there is perhaps no alternative to practicing Yoga to maintain balance between body and mind.

The MLA appreciated the initiative of the Institute for Yoga Education Research to gather opinions from various sections of society regarding Yoga education through the Yoga Sampark Abhiyan and to prepare a framework for its promotion accordingly. He also assured his cooperation for the campaign.

The meeting was held recently at the MLA’s residence in Katigorah. CEO of the Yoga Institute Shatakshi Bhattacharjee, Coordinator and Executive Member Nirojit Das and Legacy Person (Yoga Parampara) Yoga Acharya Rahul were present. They elaborated on the guidelines, vision, and objectives of the Indian Yoga Association and the Ministry of Ayush regarding the promotion of authentic Yoga education. A memento of the Yoga Sampark Abhiyan was also presented to MLA Kamalakhya on behalf of the institute.
