Woman cop assualted! Mumbai Police files fresh FIR against Arnab & his family
Nov. 4: The Mumbai Police late on Wednesday evening lodged a fresh complaint of assault on a police officer against Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, his wife, son and 2 unknown persons for allegedly manhandling a female police officer when the cops went to arrest him at his residence. The FIR was registered under sections 353 (assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
A woman cop named Sujata Tanvade claimed that she was assaulted by Arnab Goswami during his arrest in the morning. Following which, the FIR was filed at the N.M. Joshi Marg Police Station.
Goswami has been arrested in the May 5, 2018 double-suicide case of an architect Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik following complaints by his widow Akshata Naik and daughter Adnya an accomplished tennis player.
Meanwhile, Arnab Goswami claimed he was manhandled and assaulted by the police at his Mumbai home before being pushed into their van. He also alleged that the police physically assualted his father-in-law, mother-in-law, son and wife.
