With 8 more COVID-19 +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 78

Sept. 18: Another 8 new cases of COVID-19 positive were detected on Friday as per the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test results. With this, the day’s total has now gone upto 78 in Cachar district. During the day, a total of 1,110 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 62 were found positive, whereas 16 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,059 till now. It needs mention here that 46 persons were found positive in Cachar on Thursday.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results, 08 persons were detected COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. They are a 19-year-old male from Kabuganj. He travelled to Silchar from West Bengal. A 60 years old female health worker from Duarbond was also found positive. She is symptomatic. A 50-year-old hospitalised patient with SARI symptoms from Chandpur Pt-V also tested positive during the day. The rest 5 persons detected during the day are a 75-year-old female from Shyam Sundar Sarani (Sonai Road), Silchar; 66-year-old female from Jhalupara; 29-year-old male from Jhalupara, 27 years old male from Duarbond and a 75 years old male from Joypur, Raja Bazar. However, their source of getting contaminated was not mentioned in the SRF.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test Results none from Cachar tested positive. However, in the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test results, 8 more persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. Out of the 8 persons, two of them have travel history. They are a 36-year-old male from Masimpur Army Camp (air passenger from Kolkata) and a 45-year-old male (air passenger from Udhampur). The 6 others in this slot are 65-year-old male from College Road, 33 years old male from Athal Basti, 34-year-old male from Cachar, 33-year-old male from Niz Rupaibali, 53 years old female from Dakhin Krishnapur and 40 years old female from Katirail in Katigorah.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Friday said that in the last 24 hours, 262 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 480 persons were collected. 466 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 18 of them tested positive. Further, 135 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 10 were found positive.

Apart from this, 15 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 07 were discharged. At present, there are 148 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 18 patients are now in critical condition. Another 24 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 129 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 242 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no persons have died at SMCH. As of now, there were 137 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 137 deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
