With 116 more Covid-19 +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 248 on 4 May; 2 deaths registered

Active cases 709 in Cachar

May 4: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Tuesday at 11 PM. As per the latest data, 116 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 248 persons were found positive in the district on 4 May. This is the highest single day spike in 2021. Earlier, at 7 PM, it was informed that 132 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has now gone up to 709. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Mondaay was 169.

As per the updated data, a total of 2,107 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 127 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 121 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar onTuesday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus cases has gone upto 13,288. Again, 12,429 patients till now were cured and discharged.

Apart from This Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 709 active patients, 105 of them are admitted at SMCH, 08 in MH, 13 at SMDCH, 27 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital, 05 at CRPF Doyapur and 17 at Gracewell Nursing Home. Further, 534 patients are in home isolation.

During the day, two Covid-19 positive patients died in Silchar. They are Lipika Choudhury (50) W/O Sumanto Chaudhury,  Field Manager of Aenakhal Tea Estate in Hailakandi. A resident of Rangirkhari, Silchar, Lipika Choudhury was admitted at Green Heals Pvt. Hospital in Silchar after she suffered from stroke on 2 May, 2021. After being admitted, the hospital authorities did her RT-PCR test in which she tested positive. She breathed her last at 1.55 PM on 4 May, 2021. She was Covid-19 positive along with other comorbidities.

During the day, another Covid Positive patient from Silchar died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH)  This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as: Situ Roy (60) from Tarapur, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 27 April, 2021. The patient breathed his last at 11 PM on 4 May, 2021.

As per protocol, the death details were  forwarded to the State Death Audit Board in Guwahati for final certification of Covid or non-Covid death.
