We will restrict AIUDF and Congress between 20 to 30 seats, asserts Himanta Biswa Sarma

August 20: “We will restrict the Ajmal Brigade and the Congress between 25 to 30 seats in the forthcoming Assemble election.” This was asserted by State Cabinet Minister and BJP heavyweight leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on the sidelines of ceremonial distribution of appointment letters of nurses and doctors of Lakhimpur Medical College in a meeting held in Guwahati on Thursday.

Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing the media said, “Today is the death anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. But the moment, Congress will form alliance and try to capture power, will the culture and tradition Assam be there anymore?” Hinting at former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, the BJP leader said, “Recently, i have noticed that he remains busy with talking and thinking about Ajmal all the time. This means that the Congress is now determined to give Assam a blanket covering of Ajmal. So I will have to save Assam from this phenomenon.”

He further said, “Within the last 7 seven days, Congress has changed the atmosphere of Assam by speaking about Ajmal, grand alliance and AIUDF all the time. Congress hasmentally implanted Ajmal in the minds of all.” Taking a dig at the journalists, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Even you people have been ingrained with the name of Ajmal today when the state is observing the death anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. But I will do what I am supposed to do in order to stop them from entering the main house. Infact, I have already started the necessary works in this regard.”

He finally said, “We need to take an oath to save the race from the Congress and Ajmal. Today on the day of death anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, I have resolved and taken an oath that we will restrict the Congress and the Ajmal brigade within 20 to 30 seats during the forthcoming assembly polls.”
