Water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat rising; level reaches 20.28 mt at 3 AM on Monday

May 16: Though due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak started to increase, however, since Sunday morning, there were some relief as River Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar started to show a decreasing trend. However, from 5 PM on Sunday, the water level started to rise once again.

As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 3 AM on Monday was flowing much above the danger level and was recorded at 20.28 metre. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level was rising by 3 cm per hour. This is the highest level of water (20.22 mt) at Annapurna Ghat recorded this year. Prior to that, water level went  up to 20.17 mts at 2 AM (on Sunday, the highest so far in last 2 days).
