All educational institutions in Kamrup Metro including hostels shut for 15 days: Himanta Biswa
April 26: In a serious development, all educational institutions (school, colleges & universities) in Kamrup Metro district of Assam including hostels have been shut for 15 days with immediate effect. This was informed in a tweet by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday night. Sharing the information, the minister tweeted, “With cases in Kamrup Metro exceeding 1000, I’ve advised DC to shut down all educational instns including hostels for 15 days for now. All other districts, where the numbers reach a threshold that require such measures, shall follow suit.”
It needs mention that on Monday, 1153 persons tested positive in Kamrup Metro. The state government in a notification issued earlier already authorised the Deputy Commissioners to close all educational institutions of any district where the number of daily positive cases exceeds 1000.
With cases in Kamrup Metro exceeding 1000, I’ve advised DC to shut down all educational instns including hostels for 15 days for now. All other districts, where the numbers reach a threshold that require such measures, shall follow suit.
