Viral post of 2 Muslim youths detained in connection with black ink on hoarding is FAKE: Cachar Police
Oct 20: A controversial post went viral in social media platforms regarding arrest of two Muslim youths in connection with smearing black ink on an Assamese hoarding at Silchar Railway Station. The viral post in social media platforms were circulated since Tuesday.
The viral post was also circulated by many in Silchar tagging local MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, MLAUdharbond Mihir Kanti Shome, District BJP President Bimalendu Roy among others. The post stated that two Muslim youths Rahim Khan and Kader Ali were arrested by the police for defacing the Assamese hoarding at Silchar Railway Station with black ink. The post even gave a call to the Hindus to unite against the evil plots of the Jihadis.
However, in a clarification issued by Cachar Police on Wednesday night, it was stated that the two Muslim youths named in the viral post is from an incident which occurred in West Bengal, a few years back. Cachar Police clarified that the viral post has got no links with Silchar and termed it as “FAKE.”

Taking to its twitter handle, Cachar Police further wrote, “In the incident of defacement of the govt banner written in Assamese language, Cachar Police apprehended Samar Das and Raju Dey. Request everyone not to believe in rumours and share false news.” In the post, Cachar Police also tagged AssamPolice, CMOASSAM and DGPassampolice.
