Victory at Lakhipur is historic, I want to see Himanta Biswa as CM, says Kaushik Rai after his victory
May 1: “The victory of BJP at Lakhipur is historic. I assure to take make Lakhipur the most developed constituency and I will work in this respect. I thank all the voters for making BJP victorious at Lakhipur for the 1st time. This is the result of the bold leadership of Sarbanada Sonowal and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.” This was uttered by Kaushik Rai after defeating Mukesh Pandey by a margin of 12,053 votes.
On being asked by a journalist regarding the next Chief Minister of Assam, Kaushik Rai replied, “Actually, this is the task of the party to decide. But my individual opinion would go in favour of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. We all have seen how Dr. Sharma has worked day and night during the outbreak of Covid pandemic last year. A man of his level of dedication who took care of more than 3 crore people of Assam, indeed deserves to be the Chief Minister. I personally believe that if he is made the CM, then Assam will do much progress.”
Kaushik Rai got 53,731 votes, whereas Mukesh Pandey of INC got 41,668 votes. The 3rd position was achieved by Independent candidate Thaiba Singh who got 19,619 votes.
