VHP’s huge rally rock the streets of Silchar in protest against vandalism in Bangladesh

Oct. 18: The Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has expressed outrage over the attacks on shrines and temples in various parts of Bangladesh. On Monday, supporters of VHP took out a huge a bike rally in Silchar. The rally went through the major portions of the town and later assembled in front of the statue of Khudiram. Slogans were raised against Bangladesh government and demand was raised to initiate action against those who carried on barbaric attack upon Hindus during the recently concluded Durga Puja.

Purnachandra Mandal, VHP’s South Assam’s organizing secretary, said, “We demand that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a tough stand in the light of all these incidents in Bangladesh.” He further said that this is nothing new. Every year during Durga Puja, Islamic fundamentalists carry on inhuman torture upon the Hindus. He ascribed Bangladesh as a “land of Mirjafar.” Other speakers also criticised the act of vandalism in Bangladesh. Many monks from Gaudiya Math also took part in the protest march.

From Puja pandals at Comilla in Bagladesh to ISKCON temple, all came under the attack of fundamentalists in Bangladesh. Even the Ramakrishna Mission at Habiganj in Bangladesh came under sharp attack, where not only the temple and things therein were broken, but even the idol of Goddess Durga during the puja in the Mission came under the brutal attack of goons. After vandalising Durga Pauja pandals and breaking idols at several places in Bangladesh, fresh violence was unleashed against the Hindus in ISKCON temple and devotees were violently attacked there by a mob of around 200 people in Noakhali, Bangladesh.

Taking to its twitter handle, Bangladesh Hindu Unity Council wrote, “13 October 2021. A scandalous day in the history of Bangladesh.Many puja mandapas have been vandalized, Pratima Bisarjan in the Day of Asthomi. Hindus are now guarding the puja mandapa.the whole world is silent today. May maa Durga bless all the Hindus of the world.”
