Veteran Sports Administrator S. Birchandra Singha is no more

way2barak, July 1: The Assam Sepak Takraw Association (ASTA) has expressed profound grief over the demise of Shri S. Birchandra Singha, who was serving as the Chairman of the Referee Board of the association. His passing has left a deep void in the sporting fraternity of Assam.

 

A highly respected sports administrator, referee, and mentor, Singha was a Sepak Takraw National Referee, Advisor to the Barak Valley Meitei Convention, Cachar, and a member of the Lakhipur Co-District Teqball Association. He was also the Founder General Secretary of the All Assam Soccer Futsal Association (AASFA) and a former Vice President of the Indian Soccer Futsal Federation (ISFF).

 

Throughout his life, Singha remained devoted to the promotion and development of Sepak Takraw, Futsal, Football, Teqball, and martial arts. His tireless efforts in nurturing athletes, developing officials, and strengthening sports administration earned him immense respect across the sporting community.

 

In a condolence message, ASTA described his death as an irreparable loss to sports in the state, stating that his dedication, leadership, and invaluable contributions would continue to inspire future generations.

 

On behalf of the association, ASTA President and Assam MLA Bhabesh Kalita, General Secretary Dr. Bishnu Ram Nunisa, and all members conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and the entire sporting fraternity. They prayed that the Almighty grants strength to his loved ones during this difficult time and eternal peace to the departed soul.

 

The condolence message was also supported by Muhammad Emad Uddin, Secretary of the Karimganj Sepak Takraw Association, who joined in paying tribute to one of Assam’s most distinguished sports administrators.
