Silchar Gandhi Bhawan renovated with comfortable seats, sound system & modern lights

April 19: The requirement of a good auditorium was always felt by the people in Silchar. Though renovation work of District Library auditorium has begun, but it would take time for completion. Meanwhile, the Gandhi Bhawan was used by many for conducting programmes or meetings. However, the seats were not at all comfortable inside this auditorium. Moreover, Gandhi Bhawan did not have sound system of its own and a few ordinary lights were there inside the hall.

However, Gandhi Bhawan went for a major facelift. Putting on hold all bookings for couple of days, renovation work was carried on inside the hall. At present, new comfortable chairs were fixed, adequate sound system was provided and also modern lights too were fixed in it. Booking for programmes have also started now.

Taking to its Facebook Page, Silchar Municipal Board on 19 April wrote, “The long standing Gandhi Bhawan auditorium is to be the 1st choice of most cultural events, meetings happening in Silchar for a long past time… Recently, all the bookings were put on hold to make way for its renovation on a large scale..Now, we have fixed Gandhi Bhawan Auditorium with comfortable seats, adequate sound system, modern lights etc.”
