Torrential rainfall : schools in Dima Hasao temporarily suspended till 4th May

way2barak, May 2:  Authorities including the District Disaster Management Authority, District Administration, and Council Authority have been vigilantly monitoring the situation in Dima Hasao as stated by the government press release. They mentioned, as of now, the district has managed to effectively control the situation, mitigating any potential risks arising from the inclement weather conditions.

The district has been fortunate to not experience any significant casualties or accidents. While there have been reports of minor landslides in some pockets of the district and incidents of waterlogging in Haflong town during the early hours of today, the situation has been promptly addressed.

Most of the road networks connecting Dima Hasao with other districts and internally are operational and accessible. However, there is a partial closure along the Jatinga-Harangajao stretch at NH-27 due to ongoing road repair work, aimed at ensuring the safety of commuters and preventing any potential obstacles. It is anticipated that this road section will reopen by 8:00 A.M. tomorrow.

In view of the unpredictable weather conditions and for the safety of students, schools in the region have been temporarily suspended until the 4th of May. Meanwhile, other institutions, government offices, banks, markets, among others, are functioning normally to ensure minimal disruption to daily activities.
