TMC Assam appoints 12 district Presidents; Rajesh Dev made President of Cachar TMC
July 15: After Sushmita Dev left Congress and joined the TMC, the party has been striving to have a stronghold in the soil of the state including Barak Valley. The party has also successfully made her MP in the Rajya Sabha and has assigned her responsibilities within the ranks and file of the party. The joining of TMC by former Congress leader Ripun Bora was an important move wherein Sushmita Dev played a major role. He was made the State President (Assam) of TMC much to the liking of Sushmita Dev.
TMC is now trying its best to spread its organisational wings throughout Assam. On Friday, TMC Assam appointed Presidents in 12 districts of Assam including Cachar and Hailakandi in Barak Valley. A long time aide of Sushmita Dev since her days in Congress, Rajesh Dev too joined TMC. Om Friday, Rajesh Dev was made the President of Cachar district TMC. Safique Kamal Barlaskar was assigned the post of District President of Hailakandi.
Rajesh Dev started his political career in 1992 when he was appointed as the Silchar Town Congress President. In 1994, he became the Silchar District General Secretary of NSUI. Then he went on to become the President of NSUI Cachar district committee in 1998. From 2005 to 2011, Rajesh Dev remained as the President of Cachar District Youth Congress. Again, from 2011 till his joining the TMC, he was the General Secretary of Silchar District Congress Committee.
