Girl jumps in river Barak near Annapurna ghat, still traceless

Dec. 30: A girl tried to commit suicide by jumping in river Barak near Annapurna ghat, Silchar. As per reports, the girl after having her dinner on Tuesday night was not found inside her home. After searching for some time, a few persons informed that a girl has jumped in the river. The family members immediately informed police and rushed to the spot. Police too came but they failed to conduct the search as it was quite dark by then.

On Wednesday, SDRF team came to the spot and started search operation. However,  till the time of filing this report, the girl was untraceable. SDRF team revealed that on Tuesday night, a few persons who were fishing there saw that a girl all of a sudden jumped in the river. At once they raised a hue and cry and also searched her but in vain.

The 27 year old girl used to reside in a rented house near Annapurna ghat road along with her parents and three brothers. Her father is a retired employee of Forest Department. Her family members said that after passing HSLC, the girl did not study further as she was suffering from nerve disorder. Gradually she developed mental problems. On Tuesday night after dinner she suddenly slipped out of the house and jumped in the river.
