৩০ আগস্টঃ গরু চুরি করে মেরে মাংস বিক্রি করার অভিযোগে আজ উত্তাল হয়ে ওঠে উধারবন্দ এলাকা। পুলিশ অভিযুক্ত ৪জনকে আটক করে পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। ধৃতরা হলো ১. উধারবন্দের বড়সিঙ্গার বাসিন্দা বিমল ইন্ডের ছেলে কিশোর ইন্ড (২৭), ঠালিগ্রামের মাসিদাস পানিকারের ছেলে সন্তোষ পানিকার (৫৫), একই এলাকার রহমতুল্লার ছেলে রুস্তম আলি ওরফে কাছিম এবং পালোরবন্দ বাদ্রীপারের কালু আলির ছেলে সইফউদ্দিন আহমেদ ওরফেন ইমরান (৩৫)।

পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, ঠালিগ্রামের জয়ন্তী পানিকার এজাহার দিয়েছেন, গত ২৮ আগস্ট তাঁর একটি গরু চুরি যায়। তিনি গরুর খোঁজে  বেরিয়ে প্রতিবেশী সন্তোষ পানিকারের বাড়ি গিয়ে ব্যাগ ভর্তি মাংস দেখতে পান। তার পরেই তারা তদন্তে নেমে ৪জনকে আটক করেন। তাদের নিয়ে আসার সময় একাংশ এলাকাবাসী বাধা দেয়। উত্তেজনা ছড়িয়ে পড়ে পার্শ্ববর্তী গ্রামগুলিতেও। পুলিশ-সিআরপিএফ পরে লাঠি উঁচিয়ে  অভিযুক্তদের থানায় নিয়ে যায়। এখন তাদের জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করা হচ্ছে।

Tension prevailed in and around Udharbond centering the issue of stealing a cow and subsequently selling its meat. Police has brought the situation under control by arresting 4 accused persons. They are Kishore Ind (27), S/O. Bimal Ind of Barasingha in Udharbond, Santosh Panikar (55), S/O. Masidas Panikar of Thaligram, Rustam Ali alias Kachim, S/O. Rahamtullah of Thaligram and Saif Uddin Ahmed alias Imran (35), S/O. Kalu Ali of Badripar.

Speaking to our correspondent, police informed that one Jayanti Panikar of Thaligram has lodged a complaint at Udharbond Police Station, that one of his cows was stolen. While searching the cow, he went to the house of his neighbor Santosh Panikar and saw a bag full of meat. This made him suspicious. On the basis of his complaint police started investigation and finally arrested 4 persons. However, on the way back after arresting them, police had to face an angry mob. A group of people of that area tried to prevent the police from taking the 4 persons along with them. This led to a chaos. Soon, the situation became tensed in nearby villages also. Later on police along with CRPF cordoned the arrested persons to the police station. They were being interrogated by the police.
