Tea garden labourers should get puja bonus on time, emphasises DC Cachar
Sept. 4: Necessary steps should be taken by the Labour Department so that the tea garden labourers get their puja bonus on time. This was stressed by Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli during a two-day meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC) for the month of September.
Maintaining COVID-19 protocols, the DDC meeting was held here on Thursday and Friday. Chairing the meeting at her office conference hall, DC Keerthi Jalli conducted a review of schemes of all major departments with the ending of monsoon season and to prepare a roadmap for expeditious execution of works in the dry season. She reviewed PWD Roads/ NH/ Building, PHED, Water Resources, Soil Conservation and Town and Country Planning departments on Thursday.
In the DDC meeting held on Friday, discussion on Village Development Plan (VDP) under PMAGY was held and it was informed that PMAGY villages have been identified by the Government of India with allocation of Rs 20 lakh for each village.
While reviewing the progress of schemes under various departments, Deputy Commissioner, Jalli said that Social Welfare Department should observe the Poshan program in the current month in a befitting manner. Jalli also directed the Handloom and Textiles Department to initiate necessary steps for setting up of a mini industry in the district and directed the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department to step up vaccination drive to control swine fever. Jalli expressed her satisfaction over the production of fish in the district. She also expressed happiness over the performance of the Agriculture Department.
While reviewing the Education Department especially minority scholarship, Jalli said no discrepancies and irregularities will be tolerated in respect of selection of students. Discussion was also held on revenue collection in the last six months with the Deputy Commissioner underscoring the need for taking more convergence schemes.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner, Jessica Lalsim, Assistant Commissioner Vibhor Agarwal, Election officer,Cachar, Nabaneeta Hazarika, District Planning Officer Ruli Dolagaphu, and Assistant Planning Officer, Sanghita Gupta.
