Swami Shivamayananda, VP of Ramakrishna Math & Mission passes away due to Covid pneumonia
June 11: In a sorrowful incident, Swami Shivamayananda Maharaj, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission breathed his last on Friday night. Informing this in its official Facebook Page, Belur Math stated, “We are sorry to announce the passing away of revered Swami Shivamayananda ji Maharaj, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, at Seva Pratishthan, Kolkata, today (11 June 2021) at 9.05 pm due to severe Covid pneumonia. He was 86 and had been suffering from hypertension, bronchial asthma, and kidney disease for some years.”
Swami Shivamayananda was most popular among his disciples as Ronen Maharaj. He was born in 1934 in Bihar. He joined the Ramakrishna order in 1959. Swami Shivamayananda Maharaj worked in several branches of the monastery including Santragachhi, Rahra, Katihar. In 2016, he became the Vice President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
Taking to his twitter handle, Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankar wrote, “Deeply condole the passing away of revered Swami Shivamayanandaji Maharaj, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, at Seva Pratishthan, Kolkata. He attained mahasamadhi today (11 June 2021) at 9.05 pm due to severe Covid pneumonia.”
