Sufficient oxygen supply in Barak Valley, please don’t spread rumours: Dr Rajdeep Roy
April 28: “Absolutely no need to panic for oxygen as we are having sufficient stock over here. Please do not spread rumours about shortage of Oxygen supply in Barak Valley.” This was stated by Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy on Wednesday. Taking to his twitter handle, Dr. Roy tagged the Health Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and wrote, “Thank our farsighted Health Minister @himantabiswa for a situation like this as regards oxygen requirement in my #Silchar Lok Sabha Constituency.”
In his tweet, MP Dr Rajdeep Roy provided certain basic facts regarding oxygen status in Cachar/ SMCH as on 28.04.2021:
Gross requirement of Oxygen in Silchar Medical College & Hospital is 2000 litre per day:
- LIQUID MEDICAL OXYGEN (LMO): At present installed in the Silchar Medical College which has 2 tanks and holds the capacity of 20,000 ltr in each tank summing upto 40,000 ltr in total.
- 192 B type Oxygen cylinder available for emergency use.
- Oxygen Generator: This is a self Generating oxygen unit that is also installed in Silchar Medical College and Hospital with 2 machines having the capacity to generate 500 ltr per minute summing up to 1000 ltr per minute in total. The functioning of this plant will start from 02.05.2021.
- One more Oxygen Generator Plant has been sanctioned by the Govt which will also produce 1000 ltr per minute after installation.
- More than 100 Oxygen concentrators.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “8 oxygen plants operational in Assam. A total of 10 more oxygen plants will be added through funds from PM Cares to meet the requirement of NE. We also have 2000 oxygen concentrators in stock.”
