Girls pursuing graduation too will be brought under the ambit of the schemesubsequently

way2barak, Nov.30: “We will launch a new monthly scholarship scheme for girls pursuing post-graduation (PG). Girls pursuing graduation too will be brought under its ambit subsequently,” stated Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while distributing scooters to meritorious candidates who cleared the last higher secondary examinations conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council on Wednesday.

Elaborating on this new project, the Chief Minister stated that the female Post Graduate students would receive Rs 1,000 as a stipend monthly for 10 months (Total Rs.10,000) in a year since the universities and PG colleges remain closed for some two months annually due to academic reasons. He further stated that a portal in this connection will soon be launched by the state government and urged upon the female students pursuing PG courses to enroll themselves in this portal. This, he said would be helpful in covering their commutation and other related expenses.

All female students pursuing post- graduate courses like MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Tech etc. in Assam will be eligible for this monthly stipend of Rs.1,000.
