Some shops at Ambicapatty, N.S Avenue, Rangirkhari areas closed for charging escalated prices
July 1: It has been the tendency of many traders to hike prices during any natural calamity. Inspite of repeated appeal made by the district administration, there are some scrupulous elements who escalate the prices of commodities, thereby taxing the already burdened consumers. Cachar district administration has deputed officers all throughout Silchar to check the prices of goods sold by the traders in different markets of the town.
On Thursday, during such surprise inspection carried on by the district administration of various markets and shops, it was detected that some traders were charging exorbitant prices of various commodities. Immediate strict action was taken against such erring traders. As a result, some shops in Ambicapatty, N.S Avenue and Rangirkhari areas were closed down for charging escalated prices.
