Silpi Divas observed in Assam; Silpi Award & Silpi Pension conferred

Jan. 17: Silpi Divas was observed in Assam on Monday. The day is celebrated to commemorate the death anniversary of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala. A programme in this connection was organised by Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Assam at Sankardeva Kalakhetra in Guwahati. During the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma conferred Silpi Award 2022 upon eminent artistes Dr Aparna Bujarbaruah & Shri Pulak Banerjee. Apart from this, Silpi Pension for the year 2021 was also given to the recipients.

Taking to his twitter handle, Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “In today’s Silpi Divas, observed to commemorate Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala’s death anniversary, I conferred Silpi Award 2022 upon eminent artistes Dr Aparna Bujarbaruah & Shri Pulak Banerjee, along with Silpi Pension for the year 2021 to the recipients.”

Apart from this, the Chief Minister also handed over Bisnu Rabha Award 2021, Natasurya Phani Sarma Award 2021, Sahityacharya Atul Chandra Hazarika Award 2021 and Bir Raghav Moran Award 2021 on the occasion. Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated all award recipients and thanked them for their invaluable contributions to the society.
