Silchar’s band ‘Karigor’ becomes runners up in state level music competition in Guwahati

December 8: A state level music competition entitled ‘Music for Life’ was organised by Assam AIDS control society (ASACS) based on the theme ‘Know your HIV status,get tested.’ The genre prescribed for the competition was Western Rock/indie pop. Various bands from the state participated in the competition.

The different districts of Assam were divided into 4 zones. From Barak Valley Zone ‘Karigor Band’ won the 1st prize in the Zonal level competition held on 23 November at G.C. College Auditorium, which made them eligible to participate for the state level competition held at Sraddhanjali Park in Guwahati on 8 December, 2019. ‘Karigor’ secured 2nd position in the state level competition.

Karigor performed there original composition name ‘Taalash’ and also performed a cover song Vande Mataram. Speaking to way2barak, Nabarun chakraborty & Debkamal Singha, the two vocalists of the band ‘Karigor’ said, “We are indeed very happy to be a part of this prestigious competition wherein we competed with different bands and became the runners up. Though we had to be content by securing the 2nd position, yet we have gathered immense love and support from the audience and will definitely try to win the title in our future strides.”

The vocalists of ‘Karigor’ were accompanied in the instruments by Swapnaneel Bhattacharjee and Nabajyoti Nath in Guitar, Amit Deb in Bass and Alek Hasnu in drum. They were joined by Nehal Paul as additional lyricist.
