Silchar municipal corporation celebrates “NAMASTE” day with grace and gratitude

way2barak, July 18: — In a heartwarming display of civic pride and human dignity, the Silchar Municipal Corporation,on Wednesday at the conference hall of Silchar municipal corporation, rolled out a vibrant celebration of “NAMASTE” Day, honouring the tireless Safai Mitros , the sanitation workers who keep the city alive and clean with their daily toil.

The event not only underscored the Corporation’s commitment to inclusivity and respect but also shone a spotlight on the fresh leadership of its newly appointed Commissioner, Smt. Srishti Singh, IAS, who infused the occasion with her own brand of empathy and resolve.

Across Silchar, streets and wards resonated with gratitude as the Municipal Corporation, under the stewardship of Commissioner Singh,IAS and Executive Officer Mr. Nabuttom Sharma, orchestrated a thoughtful series of activities that turned a civic duty into a civic celebration. The Shrishti Waste Management Team partnered in executing the day’s events with precision and care. From a felicitation ceremony that brought the Safai Mitros to the centre stage, to health camps ensuring their well-being, to the distribution of PPE kits and a lively handwashing campaign , each gesture spoke volumes of the city’s respect for those who work, often unseen, to keep it running.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Smt. Srishti Singh, expressed her deep admiration for the city’s sanitation champions. “Our Safai Mitros are the quiet guardians of Silchar’s health and dignity. Today, and every day, they deserve our highest respect and gratitude. This ‘NAMASTE’ Day is not just an event , it is a reminder that our appreciation for their contribution should extend far beyond a single day,” she said, her words drawing applause from the gathering.
