Shramik Special train from Chennai reaches Guwahati with 1500 passengers
May 15: Gradually many persons stranded in various parts of the country have started to come back in Assam boarding the special trains. This has led to strict vigilance by the health department, police personnel & others. A Shramik Special train which left Chennai on 13 May arrived in Guwahati on Friday night with around 1500 passengers. However, all of them are not from Assam.

Out of about 1500 passengers who arrived in Guwahati by the Shramik Special train, 1100 are from the neighbouring state of Meghalaya and were sent there by special buses after mandatory. Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Minister of State, Pijush Hazarika and other officials were at the Guwahati station to receive the passengers and oversee the arrangements.
Officials from Meghalaya were also present to take back their passengers. Those from Assam were sent to institutional quarantine facilities after screening and necessary formalities as per protocol.
