Saraighat Lake and Park is Government’s commitment to sustainable urban development and eco-tourism : CM

Guwahati, August 4 : Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated Saraighat Lake Park, a state-of-the-art recreational destination along the banks of the historic Brahmaputra River at Amingaon in Kamrup district. The park, developed with modern amenities and vibrant water sports facilities, is poised to become a major attraction for locals and tourists alike. Developed by Assam Tourism Development Corporation, the state of the art Saraighat Lake Park with all modern infrastructure and eco-friendly design is expected to offer a healthy and green ambience to the families, fitness enthusiasts, and adventure seekers.
Inaugurating the park, the Chief Minister emphasized the government's commitment to sustainable urban development and eco-tourism. He said that ‘Saraighat Lake Park’ is more than just a green space. It reflected government’s vision for a cleaner, greener, and more active Assam. Moreover, the park is also expected to enhance the beauty of the area, and contribute significantly to the region’s tourism economy.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma along with two of his cabinet colleagues, MLAs and others enjoyed joy ride in the lake. The key components of Saraighat Lake and Park are, the park has been developed on a sprawling area measuring seven bigha and four katha involving a financial outlay of Rs. 5.96 crore.
Moreover, the park has road and parking area measuring 3,260.00 sqm for accommodating more than 100 cars. It has pathways 955.20 sqm, recreational features like designer concrete sittings, decorative garden arches, bamboo gazebos as weather sheds (2 nos), bamboo-made food courts (3 nos), 10 garden benches, children’s outdoor play area with equipment, and illumination, landscaping includes horticulture, irrigation, grass pavers, and general park relief to enhance green coverage and ambience.

Tourism Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Environment and Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, MLAs Bhabesh Kalita, Diganta Kalita, Chairman Rituparna Baruah, Commissioner and Secretary Tourism Dignanta Barah and host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
